Catholic Faith Challenge

The St. Joseph’s Catholic Faith Challenge is a quiz bowl style team competition open to Middle School Students. There are four rounds of head to head team competition consisting of toss-up and bonus questions, and one written test. The team with the most points at the end of the Challenge is the champion.

Check out this video of the CF Challenge.

The objectives of the St. Joseph’s CF Challenge are:

• to build Catholic school community

• to foster excitement about learning the faith

• to impart a wider breadth and depth of Catholic knowledge than is often available to a normal Religious Education curriculum

• to equip young Catholics to have ready answers to questions about their faith

• to have a great time

Questions encompass Scripture, Church history, lives of the saints, the Sacraments and sacramentals, liturgy, church terminology and Latin phrases, doctrines, and more.

To prepare for this fast-paced challenge, students should study together with their coach before and after school, and commit to self-study of:

• The official St. Joseph’s CFC Question Packet

• New St. Joseph Baltimore Catechism Number 2 (ISBN 089942242X)

• Picture Book of Saints  by Rev. Lovasik (ISBN 0899422357)

• Golden Children’s Bible (ISBN 0307165205)

These books may be purchased inexpensively at any good Catholic bookstore (e.g. Blessed on First in Kennewick) or online.
